Swanky International is the app you need as Swanky works hard bringing a higher quality Carnival atmosphere to Cayman. Swanky International first came on the scene during the 2007 Batabano. It was the inception of a “Carnival Baby”, Craig Frederick aka Festa. A regular at Miami Carnival when at the University of South Florida in Tampa, and even after graduation. The love for Carnival was engrained and it was destiny to make a difference in the Carnival scene in Cayman, and that destiny is Swanky.
The word Swanky is very Caymanian, we grew up on Swanky, a local drink made from Cayman limes and brown sugar. Swanky International has now become a staple ever since, in bringing a higher quality Carnival atmosphere to Cayman. Swanky International has goals greater than just having a good time on the road one Saturday afternoon in May, but we look to achieve something greater. Our goals are to take the CayMAS Carnival Experience to the world and invite all to experience Carnival, Cayman Islands Style!
The flavour of Swanky is much the same that you’ll find with major Carnival Bands around the world. A flavour of energy, a flavour of colour, a flavour of true Carnival spirit… that’s what Swanky International is about. Every year our goal is to increase our quality and raise the bar that our masqueraders have come to expect. We have changed the perception of Carnival in the Cayman Islands that was a parade that wasn’t up to par with the rest of the Caribbean, to one that has been enjoyed thoroughly by all who experience it. After making history in 2008 by having the most masqueraders for a private band, 138, history has been rewritten year after year on the Road with Swanky! Never before has a Mas Band had a noticeable number of overseas participants for the masquerade parade, and that’s our goal every year, to increase our visiting masquerade numbers.
In 2016, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary and had over 1400 participants for Carnival. No other entity involved with Carnival in the Cayman Islands have had the success of Swanky International, and we continue to strive to increase the Experience year after year. We are extremely excited about the leap of faith we have taken with CayMAS Carnival, and the potential it has for growth and prosperity, not just for Swanky International, but to the Cayman Islands on a whole.
Our First year of CayMAS Carnival was a smashing success and we look forward to continue to grow as a Carnival, and continue to offer a first-class Carnival experience. We hope that you will join us on the Road as Cayman’s Premier Mas Band takes to the Road and head to the Beach for 2018.
